A wee Update

Just a little update to say WEW!

I've just booked my return flights to London! That was a heafty sum out of my bank acount but it will be worth it. I've also booked my flight from Sweden back to London before I fly home. It's nice to have that sorted, no stress.

I've also booked my Sigur Ros gig tickets in Manchester! The best birthday Brian will ever have!
Along with that Brian has booked our Manchester to Reykjavik and our Reykjavik to Oslo flights!

This trip is actually happening.

Flights are booked.

Annual Leave has been approved just got to fill out paperwork.

FOUR WEEKS OVERSEAS I am so looking forward to it.

Brian and I are going to Freak out together tomorrow over brunch.
I cannot wait.

Sew much?

Almost a year ago now I made a wallet (link) using lovely Leslie's Maze & Vale (link) fabric.

I'm still holding onto some fabric of her's just waiting for the right project.
Last weekend I noticed my makeup/drugs bag I carry everywhere was looking a little scruffy so I decided it was time to make a new one! I used her Quill design (on grey cotton) with a bright coral cotton from Spotlight. I'm so pleased with how this turned out!

Also last week she she put up on her Etsy (link) some sample packs of new colours and patterns. I couldn't resist! When they arrived Wednesday I knew I had to make something else.

Whilst I love my red wallet I made from her confetti design. I felt like a change so I made myself a tiny wallet. Just big enough for cards and a little cash. For those nights when you want to carry as little as possible.

My process for making this was to cut up little pieces of paper first until I was happy with the size.

I normally wouldn't do this but because these sample pieces were all different sizes I wanted to make sure I had enough of the beautiful Litterfall (in Overcast on white) before I started cutting!

And this is what it turned out like!

I'm really happy with this it's the perfect size for nights out and that pattern is oh so adorable!
So go and check out Maze & Vale and Leslie! Because she makes so many lovely things and I just want them all!!

Bonnie

Today I had to say goodbye to a friend, no not a friend, a member of my family.

Goodbye Bonnie, you were the best. I feel so blessed that you were around for almost all of my life and I miss you so much.

Bagels, Books & The Bend

This week has been a long one! Works been super busy as it always is this time of year and then I've had some potential exciting things happen that then didn't happen. Even though it was a short working week, having the Labor Day public holiday on Monday, it felt like a lifetime.

It was so nice to wake up this morning to the weekend. Not only that but to a cold day, I had to put on a jumper! It's been over 30 degrees in Melbourne for 2 weeks now, so this is a long awaited cool change. Maybe Autumn will finally turn up now.

This afternoon I caught up with Brian and Steph for a potentially exciting thing. We're planning a trip to Scandinavia in September. I'm trying not to get excited about it just yet as I have to confirm that I can take the time off, but things are looking good.

So being the food lovers we are Brian took us to Manchester Press which is another one of those Melbourne gems hidden down an alleyway.

There was a small queue but within 20 minutes or so we were seated and ordering coffee and bagels. The cafe is a lovely renovated gutted warehouse like space. Another one of those places you wish you owned so you could live there and have a studio. Sigh. One day.

I am a sucker for cute things and just look at my coffee!

We all ordered different bagels I ordered the Tuna Melt with jalapenos on a sesame bagelWe were all incredible satisfied so much so Steph and I couldn't finish ours, to which Brian just said "Weak".

After filling up and a sneaky purchase of new sunglasses we dodged the rain and walked up to 1000 Pound Bend. Another one of those Cafe/Spaces that we love so much.

We were lucky enough to grab a sofa in the currently unoccupied gallery space out the back and got to work researching all that is Scandinavia!

We were quite pleased with these cups as tea came in them and I like Tea....and Niccolo is close to Nicole. Also lets just take a moment to look at my nails. Loving those colours!

We sat and we chatted and we planned and we got excited about travel, looking at Brian's various books and the things we could do if we had ALL the money.

It was a lovely rainy day to spend with friends and plan exciting things.
Once I get the all clear from work and book my flights I am going to be so excited!

New Inedible Edibles - Photo Shoot

If you saw my previous post you'll know I've taken some photos of my new Inedible Edibles!
They are now available on Etsy for purchase (link).

Here's a little behind the scenes, now when I say photo shoot, I really mean, myself, a cup of tea, a tripod, my camera and some blue tack. Here are a few snaps and some insights into how I go about taking photos of my Inedible Edibles!

As you can see in the below picture, I work very...low fi. A piece of wool and some blue tac hold up the necklaces on the wall. My simple method is to take a few shots then move them around until they are sitting perfectly and so on. I first took group shots as I'm planning the Inedible Edibles to be in sets or series. The first two series are Fruits and Vegetables.

And this is the end result.

Fruit Series

Vegetable Series

After the group shots I took individual pictures of each pendant close up so the buyers can see exactly what they are getting without distractions.

Avo
Then I figured I should take one shot of all the pendants together to use online not only for Etsy but Facebook and other things. Did I mention I have a Facebook page? (link)

The Fruit & Vegetable Series
Then once the Product shots are done, I always take a few more "artistic" shots that I can use to promote the Inedible Edibles, because well I love getting artistic with my photography and trying new things. Also promoting your products is less about the exact details and more about getting their interest and attention. I'm really pleased how these turned out.

I hope you've found this a smidgen interesting

February!

Feburary as flown by! Sorry for the disappearance  I guess there are two main reasons/excuses for the lack of posting, one being I've actually been having a social life for the past few weeks I've been out past 1am on more that one night and on multiple weekends! You should feel super proud of me! The other excuse being I've been quite sick for the last week and a bit which sucks. So anyway what have I been up to? Here is a little montage!

First things first, I knitted a hat! I have never actually knitted a beanie before I always crochet them, but I saw this (link) pattern and I decided that I was going to give it a go, it was also the first time I've done a proper chart pattern and I just love the scollops! I'll definitely be using that motif a lot stay tuned! The hat turned out really lovely besides the fact that I look a little bit like a delinquent teenager, but I can work with that! I think adding a pompom will fix all my problems! Pom Poms always do!

The second highlight of the month was last weekend, and man was it a big weekend, well at least a big weekend for me! Martin Martini, yes I am going on about HIM again! He got the band back together! Martin Martini and the Bone Palace Orchestra played the 23rd and 24th at Bar Open for SLAM Day (Save Live Australian Music Day) Two shows only then they went back into the abyss.

It's safe to say I lost my shit when I found out these gigs were happening so Saturday night Grace and I got Laksa with some friends then headed to the gig, we were there early we didnt care and then when they finally started to play Grace, Luella and I bare-foot danced the night away, it was like we went back in time to that perfect summer. But it was even better.

Sunday night was much the same Grace and I turned up early again, all the band members said hello to us and praised us for our dancing the night before, we had a few drinks and it all began and ended again. Then I had to get up for work the next day. 4 and a half hours sleep is not enough...

Last thing to mention this month is that I have continued to create more Inedible Edibles! New members to the family are the Pineapple, a new Avocado, Cherries and a Chilli! I'm hoping to do some photography tomorrow so stay tuned for them to be available on the Etsy page (link)!

Chains for the Inedible Edibles also arrived this week, so now every order will come with a short stirling silver chain! EXCITING

The last thing to mention is I've just started knitting another hat! I'm using my Pickles wool and it's looking good so far, this one will just be solid colour with a big contrasting pom pom!

Normal posting should resume for the next month, but now that I have said that...I've probably just jinxed myself.
